My internet dropped this weekend, following the usual Shaw cable disruptions. Used to have Telus fibre, which is amazing. Hope they act faster and upgrade those lines. Shaw gives me the creeps sometimes. During that time, the modem kept restarting, and some voltage slipped down the coax line straight into my PC's motherboard. Now I’m stuck with just one USB port and might need to return my power supply. If it was a true fibre connection, this wouldn’t have happened—voltage doesn’t travel well through glass, and it would’ve hit a switch before reaching the modem. I could file a class-action claim if others are experiencing the same problem. I suspect it’s the BlueCurve model since one port is dead, and plugging anything into that port causes power issues. I might keep the modem as proof. If enough people report this, I’d recommend they check. Test the ports, keep the modem, and consider a bridge or wall between you and your ISP. Lol, I had a wall, but if I had a bridge, it could’ve failed instead of my PC. Finding a new AM4 MMO is a bit disappointing right now. I’m hoping the USB port still works and it didn’t fry the LAN or anything else so far... though there are occasional odd glitches lately—maybe RAM’s the next problem.
