Hi, Christmas brought me the components for an ITX build. I plan to use them for streaming and other purposes in my bedroom. Since I can't run an Ethernet cable, I need a reliable connection with minimal latency. I'm aiming for under 20MB per second and want to reduce lag in Steam. Any suggestions would be really helpful!
Are there any messages written on your walls? Your Wi-Fi connection could definitely be better.
If a wired link isn't available, opt for 5.0GHz Wi-Fi instead of 2.4GHz. This boosts data transfer speed and reduces latency due to limited coverage area. I don’t have a precise ping measurement with Powerline adapters, but most people agree they’re not as reliable as a solid Ethernet connection. Their speeds are usually modest, depending on your home’s wiring setup.
There are no other connections available, like coax or anything else. I'm using the Asus 5300 router and have the Asus Wi-Fi antenna on my motherboard with 5GHz Wi-Fi. It seems power lines might be the only choice. The house is older, so I'm wondering if that would work well too...
Create a gap in the wall, install some cable, and consider assigning the 5GHz Wi-Fi to the PC or set up a separate router specifically for it.
