Someone is enjoying AoE II HD at home. I’m at my parents’ place, using my mom’s laptop which doesn’t support Dota 2 or similar games. I’m playing AoE2 and it’s a great experience, though there are still many bugs. The developers are working hard to improve it.

I enjoy playing it every week! The developers are actively involved, responding to users on Steam forums, and they regularly update the game. There were two significant updates in the past two months, and more are planned, including an expansion that was officially teased by the team. Still, the game often doesn't function well due to limitations in its engine. It remains largely unchanged from the original Age of Empires II (non-HD), which feels slow on modern hardware. The multiplayer synchronization isn’t optimized for online play—it was mainly built for local networks, which works fine then. Unless they completely rework it or adapt it to the same engine as Age of Empires III (which performs better), the experience will likely remain disappointing in this area.

Latency tends to be high during online play, though it used to be extremely slow. They've made improvements, so it's much better now.
