Prior to PTM, I relied on Thermalright TFX thermal paste and maintained consistent temperatures. Now, with PTM I sometimes reach 42 watts but still face high GPU and CPU temps. Despite testing in various games and checking my installation, the issues persist. I’m certain I installed it properly and aligned the heatsink correctly, but I’m unsure how to lower the temperatures further. What should I do?
Laptop cooling isn’t great from the start. Applying new pastes usually doesn’t help unless they were installed incorrectly. After the paste dries, it takes a while for things to return to normal. There’s little you can do to boost performance or airflow beyond better room conditions and forcing cooler air into fans—just another fan making noise.
