I switched my little brothers CPU and motherboard from Intel to AM4. I used an older motherboard, the Asus Prime B350m-K, with a Ryzen 5 2600. After turning it on for the first time, the screen wouldn’t appear. My monitor didn’t display anything, but the GPU, fans, keyboard, and all components were functioning normally. I tried everything: unplugging the display port cable, reinstalling RAM, disconnecting all peripherals, reinstalling the CPU—nothing resolved it. I stayed downstairs for about two hours before it worked again. After a few days, he installed new RAM (2x8GB) and tried again, but the issue persisted. We then replaced the power supply and upgraded from 430W to 600W. The GPU remains RX 580, yet the problem continues. The monitor still won’t show anything. Now everything seems fine except the keyboard, which lights up briefly when turned on before turning off. This is the only change in behavior. I’m really struggling and would appreciate some assistance. Maybe the motherboard isn’t working properly? Side note: This board was updated for the Ryzen 5 2600 back then. I used it on this board for a month before upgrading. Recently, I upgraded to a 5800X and searched my older board, giving it the new CPU after installing the 2600 on an updated X470 motherboard. Hope someone can help.

Using iGPU on a Ryzen 5 is quite challenging with a CPU lacking an integrated graphics solution. It might be beneficial to upgrade the motherboard BIOS to the newest release if possible. Regarding hardware changes, AMD boards tend to react strongly when components are altered without updating the CMOS settings. Simply power down the system, remove the CMOS battery, briefly connect the terminals, and then reinsert the battery before retrying.
No method exists to improve the bios since nothing is visible. There are also no premium options available for an upgrade. Should we invest in a new Mobo? It functioned previously and recently worked for a short time, but it halted during RAM upgrades. The CMOS battery was replaced already, yet it didn’t help.
Seem logical AMD boards cycle on and off a few time when new hardware is installed (think it might only be when installing a new CPU.) it sounds like what ever the motherboard is doing to confirm the new hardware is getting stuck in a loop of some kind (not sure if that is actually possible). It is only the first time the system see new hardware you are experiencing this issue right? If this is the issue could be a physical one or bios. you say you can't upgrade the bios can't you place it back to a working configuration an wait the two hours to get it working then update?
Return to the original setup, apply the BIOS update once it stabilizes, then adjust settings gradually. Disconnect all unnecessary components—no storage devices, mouse, extra peripherals, or add-ons. Use only the basic keyboard and display connected via DVI.
He also attempted to force the mobile to error, but it appears the device doesn’t reach that stage for system boot. Updating the BIOS isn’t possible without a functional monitor, and it isn’t displaying anything. I’ll test these steps today: install my 1080 in his system to see if the GPU is damaged, switch to a different monitor using various cables, try a new mobile adapter, disconnect the HDD and use only the SSD where Windows is installed.
