After turning on CSM support, the laptop won't boot.
I have an IONICO laptop from Pcspecialist. The CPU is i7-10875H, the GPU is 3070, and it uses a Tongfang motherboard. I attempted to access BIOS by mistake and enabled CSM Support, which caused the machine to shut down abruptly. Now it won’t power on at all—only the fans and keyboard lights work briefly before shutting off. When I press the power button for less than a second, it turns off completely. It seems the BIOS failed to start properly.
I tried several fixes: resetting the CMOS by removing batteries for different durations, testing via displayport and HDMI, and using a RAM stick to see if it worked. Still nothing changed.
I reached out to a computer store, explaining the problem. They advised me to follow their usual steps, which involved resetting the CMOS again. They suggested it might be a simple fix. I’m not sure if this is the root cause, but I suspect something went wrong during the CMOS reset.
I’m trying to understand what’s happening and whether it can be resolved. Many users have faced similar issues with Pcspecialist, and I’m concerned about the delay in getting help. I’m hoping for guidance or a solution that doesn’t require long wait times.
You're going to have to turn CSM off. Once it's on, you can only make things worse, since you'll have to reinstall the OS. There is no reason to turn CSM on. All I can offer here is to try plug in an external monitor, because I can tell you what probably happened: 1. CSM requires hardware to support it. The Geforce probably doesn't support it, likely only the iGPU. You probably have the mux set to use the Geforce not the iGPU. So it will only display something if the OS can boot, which it can't because you turned CSM on, which requires reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling the OS. 2. You'll need to force a factory reset. To which, you'll likely need to send it to the manufacturer if you've already tried everything. Most laptops you can induce a reset by disconnecting the battery and AC, cmos battery, try powering it on to discharge the laptop caps, and then plug it back in. If you can't make it do that, you're going to have to RMA it. Do not turn CSM on unless you know what you're doing. This is only for booting, like USB drives/cd-roms from before 2008.
