I'm just getting started with all this. I bought a pre-built machine a while ago—Ryzen 9 3900 (non-X) with a 3080. I've been researching better CPUs that would suit my setup. After checking compatibility with my motherboard, I figured updating the BIOS could boost my chances of upgrading soon. (Motherboard: ASUS Prime X570-P). I went through the official guide to update and followed their instructions. Before this change, temperatures stayed around 45°C. After the update, they dropped to about 70°C in the BIOS alone—around the 60s. When I put it under load, it jumps to the 90s and sometimes shuts down completely. I tried rolling back to the previous BIOS version, but it didn't help. I've searched online and even had someone explain it, but I'm still confused. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Have others faced this issue? Any tips on BIOS settings that might help?

Verify whether the BIOS upgrade affected the CPU fan curve or core voltage configurations. It’s unlikely you need to interact with the hardware for a BIOS update, though doing so might cause cooling issues.

Review a guide on overclocking for an ASUS motherboard. You'll see the main voltage numbers there. Check them against your settings to spot any unusually high values. It’s possible the Asus AI Tweaker was accidentally enabled, which can trigger auto-overclocking and raise temperatures significantly.
