I took out the battery from my laptop since it's not holding a charge well and is completely dead. I'm using an Acer Aspire 5 Slim (2019) | A515-54-51DJ and plan to use it only for desk work, so I don't mind keeping it plugged in all the time. It would be risky to leave it charging continuously, but I noticed performance drops when using Discord and Firefox. I changed the power plan to max performance and checked the BIOS for any special settings, but it's still running slowly. Any suggestions on how to improve this?

There could be an option to cap the battery charge at 80% or similar. I'm not sure if 2019 models had this feature. My 2020 HP Elitebook 830 G7 includes it, which stops charging once the battery hits 80% but keeps using power even with a weak charger that can't handle CPU boosts up to 50W. It shows 100% in Windows, but the battery is only at 80%. When the battery gradually drops to around 95%, it recharges to 100% (Windows says 80% in the battery, but the actual charge is higher).

It could reveal why your CPU is being throttled. Dell machines employ BD PROCHOT throttling. If the BD PROCHOT indicator turns red in the Limit Reasons window, attempt to clear that box on the ThrottleStop main screen.

I understand the issue is similar to what others faced. I took out the battery from my Dell Latitude 3490 laptop and it slowed down significantly. After applying throttle stop, it worked for a day but then returned to its slower state. Here’s the screenshot reference.

Claro, entiendo. En MSConfig la opción estaba marcada y mostró 6 núcleos, pero el Task Manager indica 3 núcleos con 6 lógicos. Respecto al límite de potencia PL1, ¿sabes cómo ajustar ese valor para permitir hasta 4.0W?

Yes, purchase a fresh battery. Did removing the processors box and restarting resolve the issue? Does the Task Manager now display 4 cores and 8 logical processors? Expected results.
