You don’t have to give up the key before formatting. You can install Windows 10 again using the official download from Microsoft without losing access to your digital key. Just follow the installation steps carefully, and once you’re set up, you’ll be able to use the same key on your new PC.

I believe it’s easy to reuse the same key each time. This is the approach I take every time I reinstall Windows 10, and I’ve always experienced no issues.

Only when using the identical Windows version or type will it start automatically, without needing a manual key installation.
