I acquired an older computer and over the past couple of months it generally functioned well until (my mind got confused) I adjusted the BIOS settings. Previously, I relied solely on the Core Unlocker tool (though occasionally it would turn off without explanation).

Observations: The machine boots up and fans begin to spin, but no beep is heard and the screen remains dark. The PSU fan produces an unusual noise but eventually stops (this happened before, but I didn’t notice). The CPU socket appears slightly dusty, though it previously made contact.

Specifications:
- Memory: Asus M578L-M LX3 AM3+
- CPU: Amd Athlon II 160u
- RAM: 4GB Kingston DDR3 1333MHz (2x2GB)
- Power Supply: BRB ATX 550w X 24P 1S

What I attempted:
- Swapped both RAM sticks for a single 2GB module in each slot.
- Connected the system speaker to listen for error codes (no codes came through).
- Removed RAM and CPU to check for errors (no output).
- Disconnected CMOS battery for about 30 seconds to possibly reset settings.
- Tried shorting the pins as per the motherboard manual (possibly misapplied).

Considerations: I plan to use a multimeter to inspect the PSU and clean the CPU socket with compressed air. Thanks for your help!

Consider another power supply unit, as the lack of any beep code for no RAM seems suspicious.
