After installing Windows 10 Pro, some RAID drives disappeared. Microsoft seems to be trying to trick me.
History: Installed new computer with fresh Windows 10 Pro. Used three drives, SSD setup complete. OS runs on SSD. First problems: multiple blue screens after updating NVIDIA drivers. Chose to format SSD and reinstall Windows 10 Pro. After formatting and installing, the two WD drives didn’t appear in File Manager. Device Manager lists them as "working properly," but Disk Management shows them as dynamic "foreign" entries without access. Called 1-800-642-7676 first time—received a message asking for Tier 2 support. Was transferred to a woman who spoke little English and refused to move me up. After repeated complaints, she suggested re-partitioning drives and reinstalling Windows. She warned against giving this advice to others due to data loss risks. She directed me to purchase the Assure Software Support Plan for level 2 help. She provided a link but seemed eager to sell it. I’m frustrated by what I perceive as Microsoft enabling poor customer service. I’m trying to understand if the resynching will finally appear in my file manager and am open to feedback.
I often advise folks against using raid, particularly software-based raid.
