After installing the new CPU cooler, the DRAM LED lights up.
PC operated well with 2x8 GB RAM. The CPU experienced overheating, so I added an aftermarket cooler. After installation, I couldn't post and the DRAM LED lit up. Removing one RAM stick resolved the issue, and I even swapped the sticks to check for damage, but it still worked fine. It only fails with both sticks installed. Need advice! Specs: CPU Ryzen 5 3600 MB, MSI b450 Gaming Plus, Max RAM 2x8 GB, Corsair LPX Vengeance GPU, GTX 1050 ti, cooler ETS-N31.
When the memory slot fails, the DRAM indicator may illuminate to signal a problem. The PC would still attempt to boot, but it wouldn’t recognize any RAM, so it wouldn’t load properly. The system wouldn’t simply read just one stick—it would fail entirely without a valid memory interface.
Testing RAM in various slots doesn’t necessarily harm performance. Using two sticks in incorrect slots won’t make your system slower; it just won’t utilize them properly. The right slot ensures optimal speed and stability.
I solved it. Slots 1 and 2 function correctly, while slots 3 and 4 don’t. What’s the issue?
Consider reinstalling the CPU. The slots 3 and 4 share the same channel, indicating a potential issue with the CPU socket. If this doesn't resolve the problem, verify your CPU for any bent pins.
