After installing Moonlight, PC games often experience performance issues.
Hi everyone, I'm reaching out for your support because my gaming PC has been acting strangely lately. I'm using Parsec to connect remotely, which runs an i5 6600K with 16GB RAM and a GTX 1650. Everything worked fine until I started playing Moonlight to compare performance. The game didn't run well afterward—slow and choppy even for less demanding titles. I've tried several fixes: updated the GTX 1650 drivers, installed the latest Microsoft C++ redistribution, rolled back to a previous Windows version, and ran a thorough virus/malware scan. No threats were found. It's really confusing what happened! Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
It could be that removing Moonlight affected some libraries also used by Parsec. I’d attempt to reinstall Parsec, which should re-install any extra programs it requires.
It’s unlikely to cause issues; reinstalling Parsec during a running remote desktop session should not disrupt it.
Used Google Remote Desktop to remove and reinstall Parsec; performance remains subpar. Suggested alternatives. Updated: January 16, 2023 by toastyv
Consider using Revo Uninstaller to find remaining files; it can assist with that.
Hi @nOm nom NOM3, thanks for your response and suggestions. I contacted the Moonlight Discord chat, which advised using DDU; Driver Display Uninstaller to clear any traces of Moonlight. After further research, I realized the issue stemmed from my drivers updating to a newer version that clashed with my monitor. My old Apple Cinema Display 30-inch worked fine with Parsec, but now it's causing problems. If anyone else faces this, please verify your hardware setup. Appreciate everyone's patience and help.
