I took apart my gigabyte xtreme gaming gtx 1080 to clean it with iso alc and pressurized air, and suddenly it doesnt post, and is undetected by pc. Fans do spin and rgb lights up, however. No clue what i did to make it quit. I tried another gpu, an amd hd 7950, and it worked fine. At first i thought it had to do with using the wrong fan headers, but from what i can find online, one header is supposed to b empty pls help system specs: gigabyte xtreme gaming gtx 1080 i7 11700k msi z590 a pro kingston beast 4x8gb ddr4 3200 mhz wd black sn750 1tb thanks in advance

It depends on what parts you removed and whether everything is completely secure. It looks strange that it stops working after a full reset, even though it was functioning before. Your GPU repaste seems correct and the pads are making good contact, so the issue might be elsewhere. It could be a missing connection or a forgotten component. If you confirm everything was checked and still doesn’t work, it’s likely a short or a missing part. Usually, the problem is simply an unplugged component.

I agree with Shimejii, maybe I should go back and rebuild it. Hmmm

I've experienced this problem before. The GPU didn't function on another machine either. Then I moved it to the first PC, reset the CMOS, turned off the power for 10 minutes, and it worked fine—both times. This was with a GTX 680. Try resetting the CMOS again; it sometimes helps.

I likely disassembled it four times to check for errors, but I couldn’t locate anything. Edited September 8, 2022 by Crimson_Canadian
