I'm searching for a suitable cooler to support stable overclocking at 4.7 GHz on an FX8350. I've been evaluating the Corsair H60, be quiet! DARK ROCK 3, and the Cooler Master GeminII S524 Ver.2. Ultimately, I need a reliable option that can keep temperatures under control for a longer period.

System details:
- CPU: AMD FX-8350
- CPU cooler: Stock ATM
- Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400
- Storage: Corsair Force LE 480GB 2.5" SSD & Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000 3TB 7200RPM HDD
- Graphics: XFX Radeon RX 480 8GB GTR
- Case: NZXT Source 530 ATX Full Tower
- Power supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ Bronze
- Wireless adapter: Asus PCE-AC56

Honestly, I’d opt for a Hyper 212 +EVO and some MX paste. Depending on your chip, you’ll be near your target. A pricier choice could offer a bit more flexibility. Is it worth the extra cost? Yes, because you can still fit $2500 wheels on a 96' Honda.

It shouldn't be difficult to locate a suitable cooler for the FX-8350 at that cost. My setup uses an affordable 212 EVO with push-pull fans and is already optimized for 4.7 GHz. I previously had a H60, but transferred it to another system. The push-pull 212 EVO performs marginally better than the H60.

It shouldn't be difficult to locate a suitable cooler for the FX-8350 at that price point. My unit features an affordable 212 EVO with push-pull fans and is already configured for 4.7 GHz. I previously used an H60, but transferred it to another system. The push-pull 212 EVO seems to perform marginally better than the H60. Would it make sense to invest in a bigger cooler, such as the Dark Rock 3? Or would that simply be an unnecessary expense?

It shouldn't be hard to find a good cooler for the FX-8350 for that price. Mine has an inexpensive 212 EVO with push-pull fans and is OC'ed to 4.7 GHz. I had a H60 on for awhile, but moved it to another machine. The push-pull 212 EVO does a slightly better job than the H60.
Would it benefit to buy a larger cooler then? Like the Dark Rock 3? Or will that just be wasted money
Larger? The fan is slightly larger on the DR3. But the cooling efficiency isn't all that much better (for the price). I don't have any experience with the DR3, but here is a video I found of it being compared to the 212 EVO:

Under $150, I can only suggest the Swiftech H220/H240 models. I would definitely steer clear of any closed loop coolers. Just opt for quality airflow.
