The only way to access LTI currently is through the grey market, unfortunately. @rentaspoon is correct—you can't avoid it, so it makes sense to adapt. It seems CR was right about embracing the grey market as part of this situation. Poor James was overruled, though.
You won't be able to purchase a Vanguard with LTI anymore. Instead, you can buy a ship using LTI that will be available soon (since only concept sale ships have LTI), like the Endeavor or Crucible (Hospital and Repair vessel). Once they're ready in the hangar and the option appears, you can upgrade to the Vanguard with Cross Chassis Upgrade. This will transfer the LTI onto your new Vanguard. I wasn't aware of that. It seems he'll have to wait for another shipment cycle next year, or perhaps attempt to secure a Reliant through the grey market for CCU.
