I once chose express installation instead of custom, and then saw "Positive Finds Ads" in Chrome. Malwarebytes and Adwcleaner didn’t detect anything, Avast was inactive, and CCleaner refused to assist. Even after resetting Chrome and removing all potential plugins, the ad still appeared when searching. I’ve uninstalled every program that might have triggered this adware.

It's often these types that show up—look inside Chrome extensions and the programs list to see if they're installed.

Consider Super Anti-Spyware for enhanced protection. I previously relied on it for virus removal while working in a PC shop. Also, restart your internet configuration and verify your IP, proxy, and hosts files manually. It’s probable you’re using a proxy that’s directing you to ad pages. Hosts Fix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034 Perhaps try "hostsxpert" Proxy/IP Settings: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2289942 (Yes, it mentions Internet Explorer, though these settings often apply to multiple browsers) Another IP/Proxy fix: Mini Tool Box: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/minitoolbox/ Make sure the following options are checked: Flush DNS Report IE Proxy Settings Reset IE Proxy Settings Report FF Proxy Settings Reset FF Proxy Settings Review the Hosts list, IP settings, Winsock entries, recent Event Viewer logs, installed programs, and user details. Keep in mind that when you select "Reset FF Proxy Settings," Firefox should be closed.
