Advice on power supply
I purchased a Streacom ST-NANO160 nanoPSU and i7-13700T 35W CPU. I’m assembling a Mini-ITX PC and checking if the parts match my power needs. In my setup, there will be no graphics card – only the processor, 2x16GB DDR5 RAM (non-OC), and a 1TB Crucial P5 Plus NVMe SSD. I’m thinking about using an ASUS ROG Strix B760-I Gaming WiFi board or something similar. Is a 160W nanoPSU sufficient for this build, or should I upgrade my components? Thank you.
Did you check what Lutfij is? It relates to PICO devices. Amazon.com
I am capable of handling this task. The T suffix processors are compact units with lower power consumption, typically drawing minimal energy especially without a graphics card. It is likely you need to connect something to the 4-pin ATX port on your motherboard to initiate operation. As mentioned in the FAQ: the 8PIN connector is used instead of the standard 4PIN to provide additional current for the CPU. Most motherboards can still boot and function properly with just the 4PIN connected, while the 8PIN is mainly needed for overclocking or high-TDP CPUs exceeding 75W. Since our power supplies are built for lower power systems, they won’t surpass the capacity of a single 4PIN connector, which is why we don’t offer an 8PIN model at this time. If your motherboard fails to start, you can use a splitter (4PIN to 8PIN) or a Molex to 4PIN adapter to supply the required power. What are your specific requirements and intended use for this setup?
For that configuration, then yes, it should likely function if the board fits the case. Keep in mind, not every motherboard form factor matches all dimensions exactly, so I've encountered some mini ITX boards that are a bit bigger than others—make sure the specs align before you place an order. For this kind of build or case, there aren't many choices for the power supply, and as long as it has the right connections, the capacity should be sufficient. As for the quality, I don’t have any experience with Streacom's PICO power supplies.
This case involves my device: a product from AliExpress with ID 2251832788570167. It's primarily used for simple tasks such as browsing the web, working on Office documents, and streaming HD/UHD media from a locally connected NAS via USB-C. The CPU is connected to a 4pin molex power supply on the nanoPSU. Thoughts?
