My research indicates that the Ryzen consistently achieves similar frame rates as the i3 within games, although it requires approximately 15 to 25% more graphics card utilization while the Intel processor demands a significantly higher, sometimes reaching 100%, amount of CPU usage. Currently, I can acquire the i5-8400 for $239 and the Ryzen 5 2600 for $229.
Considering those costs, the i5 appears to be a better value. Price is undoubtedly the most important factor in these choices.
Currently, the 2600 offers a roughly $30 savings compared to the i5-8400, and AM4 motherboards are similarly less expensive.
Please remain cautious and observant. The prices and performance trends for CPUs and graphics cards will likely shift significantly by July, requiring a reevaluation of these conversations then.
