It's hard to picture the machine enduring the pressure of forcing the latest Adobe suit to operate on that hardware. Trying to run Linux Mint Mate or Xfce, along with installing Gimp and Inkscape, would likely make the system much more responsive. This approach would give you a better chance to complete your tasks while saving money on licenses instead of spending on software.

I would suggest... Not using Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
There are numerous other graphic tools available, which require less processing power than Photoshop.
Many of these alternatives are free and open source.
