You can restore your local user privileges by adjusting the user permissions settings or using the appropriate system tools to change the user role.

This doesn't work with W10, so it seems you're referring to W7.

You might want to test this if it remains functional (Choose Option 1 only, skip Option 2).

I've encountered some issues recently when attempting to update my local username. After following all the necessary steps, I realized my account wasn't an administrator. In one of my previous posts, I tried changing it back to admin mode, which didn’t help. Now I can’t access my local account at all. I’ve repeatedly tried to resolve this, but nothing seems to work. Anyone have any suggestions?

You're having trouble accessing your PC, but you're using Windows 10 while the system is running from XP. Try checking if the installation media supports both operating systems or see if a compatibility layer can help.

It presumes you can complete the boot CD/USB setup on a different device, then connect it to the impacted system. The default administrator account is turned off in Windows 10. You may reactivate it during Recovery Mode. Begin your normal startup until you reach the Sign In screen. Press and hold the Shift key while clicking the Power button and restarting (keep holding Shift). The Recovery menu will appear, then select Troubleshoot, Advanced Options, Command Prompt, type net user Administrator with /active:yes, press Enter to exit and proceed to a standard reboot. You should be able to log in as Administrator and adjust your account accordingly. If unsuccessful, switch to Recovery Mode, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart, then choose Safe Mode with Networking and fix your account there.
