Adjusting the speed of the air cooler for the I5-7600k processor
Searching for an air cooler that maximizes overclocking potential on an i5-7600k. The situation becomes tricky because the Noctua D-15 won't work due to the required 50cm clearance unless paired with just one fan—would that still be optimal? Also, the CRYORIG R1 is out of the question as it's too powerful. My case supports a 165mm cooler and I only have 50mm RAM modules. I'm not aiming for the cheapest option but something around £100.
How many RAM sticks and what motherboard are you using? If you only have two sticks, you might fit them in slots 2 and 4 for RAM, which could allow room for both fans on the NH-D15. However, I still believe the NH-D15 remains one of the top choices even with just a single fan. Most dual tower coolers tend to be similar in size, so if you need a cooler that won’t block RAM slot 1, you’ll probably have to opt for a single tower model. The Noctua U14S is a solid option. Tom’s has a list of air coolers they prefer in the link below.
Have you thought about the H7?
I picked RAM that won’t clash with my cooler. It’s Kingston Hyper FuryX. There’s also Corsair LPX and Crucial—I’m not sure about the rest. This option gives me the freedom to select the cooler I prefer. Should I let my RAM decide? No, thank you.

Unfortunately, when I bought the RAM I didn’t expect to need a CPU cooler upgrade a few months later. Next time I’ll definitely keep that in mind!

Have you considered the
Cryorig H7
?
I chose RAM that wouldn't interfere with my cooler. It's Kingston Hyper FuryX. There is also Corsair LPX , Crucial(I forget the rest). That choice lets me chose which cooler I want to use. Let my RAM decide for me? No, thanks.
Yeah unfortunately at the time of purchasing the ram I did not see myself upgrading the cpu cooler a couple of months down the line, next time I shall definitely keep it in mind!
Some people slide the offending fan up the quarter inch or so so that the RAM can fit. I know it works with the Evo. Not sure about the others.

I picked RAM that wouldn’t clash with my cooler. I went with Kingston Hyper FuryX. There’s also Corsair LPX and Crucial—I’m not sure about the rest. That way I can pick the cooler I like best. Should I let my RAM decide? No, thanks.

Some people adjust the fan a bit higher so the RAM fits. I know it works with the Evo, but I’m not sure about others.
I’ve considered it, but if the case isn’t high enough, that would have been my fix. Thanks for the tip!
