I'm attempting to push my CPU to 4.0 GHz and have these configurations: C1e States off, Turbo/boost off, High performance mode enabled, multiplier set to 20. I'm wondering if these settings are excessive or if adjustments could help reach 4.0. My system details are as follows:
CPU: AMD FX-8320 at 3.50 GHz, 8-core AM3+ with 6MB L2 and Turbo cores
HDD: 1TB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s, 32MB cache, 7200RPM
Motherboard: GIGABYTE 970A-DS3P, AMD 970 ATX, various ports and power options
Cooling: CORSAIR H55 Hydro Series
It's not exactly meant to be an OC-focused board, such as the UD3P is.
It's possible it could work, but only you can find out the limitations of your particular CPU. As said about the board, it's not really a board for overclocking with. Things are likely to overheat or not provide stable enough power and cause instability issues.
