Adjusting RAM configurations for Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz 12GB (3x4GB) on Foxconn Flamingblade GTI
Adjusting RAM configurations for Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz 12GB (3x4GB) on Foxconn Flamingblade GTI
As talked about in the official corsair forum, I am seeking a way to install my new RAM properly.
I own a Foxcon Flamingblade GTI motherboard with an Intel Core i7 processor and 6 GB of DDR3 RAM (3x2GB).
Recently, one of the RAM modules failed (tested by inserting each card individually; one stopped the system, and memory tests also show problems when this card is present).
To fix this, I purchased Corsair Vengeance 12GB DDR3 RAM (3x4GB), which should work with my board after overclocking to match the specifications (see http://www.foxconnchannel.com/Produc...U=en-us0000458).
I made sure MXP was activated in BIOS, since the memory uses an MXP profile.
Inserting a single 4GB Corsair Vengeance card allows the system to recognize the 4GB and boot normally.
The award BIOS confirms this setup with MXP enabled, showing 1600 MHz detected and the correct quantity.
Adding two 4GB cards triggers the system to detect 8GB of RAM, but causes a new memory access error each time it restarts. The same detection confirms 1600 MHz and the right amount.
Three 4GB cards result in the POST failing and producing a continuous beep. According to the award BIOS POST notes (http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm), this signals a RAM problem, as described.
I changed the order of the memory sticks to test different configurations, but it seems the new RAM package is functioning correctly.
In the award BIOS, after resetting and enabling MXP, the DRAM voltage appears red at 1.7V. Online sources indicate this red setting means the board was configured for a higher voltage than default.
My Corsair DDR3 RAM recommends 1.5V operation, so I would like to adjust it down.
When reviewing the voltage overview, I couldn’t find a BIOS option to set it to 1.5V. Is there a way to modify this setting?
Additionally, on the label, I see instructions for 9-9-9-24 timings. Yet I can’t locate where to enter these values in the award BIOS.
Could someone guide me on how to adjust them correctly?
Also, several BIOS options are hidden and not editable. Anyone know how to access or fix this?
