Just checking if I need any tips.
I recently purchased Mass Effect Andromeda and noticed my system might struggle with it, so I considered some overclocking adjustments.
I prefer keeping my graphics card running at a stable temperature, using MSI Afterburner with a custom fan setting that can reach 100% speed when needed.
My card is set to 100% usage and usually stays under 49°C, even with the room temperature around 66-68 degrees.
I’m wondering if a 1070 Core clock and 1450 Memory clock are safe for stability.
I’ve read that this card can handle a significant overclock and still perform well, especially with proper tuning.
My system has:
- CPU: FX 8350
- Graphics: Powercolor Turboduo R9 270 2GB
- RAM: 8GB Corsair 2133Mhz
- Storage: 1TB HD
- Power Supply: 850 Watt EVGA SuperNova
I understand why I haven’t upgraded yet—I’m hoping to save for something better like a GTX 1080, but I still plan to use this card in another machine. I don’t want it to overheat too much and shorten its lifespan.

Well I finally managed to download it and have adjusted the settings. My card and graphics options (Planets mode) are working well in chaotic environments. So far I'm quite satisfied. My Core clock is 1070Mhz, memory clock 1500Mhz, and surprisingly my GPU stays at 100% without exceeding 47c. FPS usually stays between 30 to 45 on planets (sometimes dips to 28 but recovers). Better performance on ships and stations. Settings applied: 1080P, texture high, temporal AA anti-aliasing, SSAO ambient occlusion, medium post-process quality, high texture filtering, lighting quality high, shadows medium, effects high, mesh high, shader high, terrain high, vegetation high.

What resolution are you using? And which detail adjustments? Your system meets the basic needs for the game, but even with overclocking it's not close to the suggested setting. Raising the resolution would likely boost performance, though reducing resolution or tweaking other parameters might be necessary for smooth gameplay.

Raising the overclock would likely boost performance a bit, though you might need to adjust resolution or settings for smoother play. Of course, trying 1080p at High setting with shadows Medium and around 30 FPS is quite challenging when you're experiencing drops below 29... I'm just guessing since I haven't tested it yet.

There is no way you can get good FPS on high settings, as both your CPU and GPU are not good enough.
You might thing that an FX8350 has 8 cores and is clocked at 4Ghz, same as the i7-4790, but there is a 5 year old gap between these CPU's and the 4790 is almost 50% faster with the same clock.
The R7 370 is half what the 1060 and RX480 are.

There’s no chance to achieve high FPS with those settings, since your CPU and GPU aren’t powerful enough. You might believe the FX8350 has eight cores at 4Ghz like the i7-4790, but it’s actually five years older and nearly 50% slower with the same clock speed. The R7 370 is only half the performance of the 1060 and RX480. It could be an old chip, but it’s still the recommended one for the game—probably because AMD’s best at that time—but I see some people on YouTube using GTX 750 Ti with a medium setting and a low setting at 1080p managing 25-35fps, while my card is significantly better than a GTX 750.

It's a challenge, your card performs better than the 750Ti, yet they're stuck on medium-low configurations with only 30FPS. That's not ideal since you were aiming for higher settings and better performance. I just confirmed the facts. You might manage to get by with medium settings; this GPU seems capable enough. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwzXV9Irpj4
- Check out the FX-8350 video using R9 280X, though I don't know the exact graphics quality—just measure it yourself.

Settings:
- Resolution: 1080P
- Texture: High
- Anti-Aliasing: Temporal AA
- Ambient Occlusion: SSAO
- Post Process Quality: Medium
- Texture Filtering: high
- Lighting Quality: High
- Shadows Quality: Medium
- Effects Quality: High
- Mesh Quality: High
- Shader Quality: High
- Terrain Quality: high
- Vegetation Quality: high

I believe the main factor holding me back from a steady 45fps is the texture quality. With only 2GB of VRAM (MSI reports ~1930Mb used at High setting), lowering the texture quality to Medium still gives a solid 12 fps, keeping me in the 43-55 fps range without any drops.

It's a pleasant experience with engaging combat, though if you want to connect with the characters and enjoy a compelling story, you might be in the wrong place. The main issues are the lifeless soulless eyes, weak voice acting, and poor facial animations that break immersion. The character models are also disappointing—everyone looks strange. I believe they'll improve the character creation soon, which is a drawback for those who already made their own avatars. I rate it 6.5 out of 10, but with serious updates it could reach 8 out of 10.
