I recently acquired an old monitor that functions, but its output is limited to VGA while your main monitor supports HDMI. I purchased a DVP adapter, yet the issue persists—my BIOS appears on the incorrect display. How can I resolve this?
You frequently need to turn off certain screens at startup. The video bios will display a preferred list of available screens to the system manager. If older screens (through DP) are shown first, they’ll be selected by default as your bios output. Changing your HDMI monitor to a DP→HDMI adapter might allow both displays to show bios content, though it’s uncertain. EDIT: Running a Linux live USB/CD and examining the display logs could reveal which screens are prioritized (still uncertain, but potentially helpful).
