intel core 2 duo asus setup discussed. Coolers seem standard. You have a gtx 970 with 4gb/5gb ram and 500hdd. Want to upgrade CPU from 2.6ghz to 3.2ghz? Need advice or help on discord or elsewhere?

Consider starting with "ai overclock." This method attempts to automatically adjust a stable overclock. You'll need to upgrade your HDD to an SSD for better performance. What type of CPU cooler are you using? Have you refreshed the thermal paste?

Probably that stock cooler limiting the overclock then. There needs to be thermal headroom. Be careful with temperature with these old CPUs as they aren't nearly as good as protecting themselves from overheating as modern ones. I had an i5 2500k that fried itself to death when I forgot to plug in the CPU fan during troubleshooting.
