Hello everyone. I'm working with an older setup and need assistance with overclocking the components. Here are the details:

System specs:
- CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T
- CPU cooler: Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML120L V2
- Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P FX
- Memory: Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1600C11 16GB DDR3 1600
- Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 240 GB / WD VelociRaptor WD3000HLHX
- Video card: Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 1 GB (using one of two, no crossfire benefits)
- Power supply: EVGA 100-N1-0650 650W
- Case: Cooler Master MasterBox MB600L V2
- Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit
- Sound card: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy SE 24-bit 96 kHz

I want to start by noting that attempting overclocking this setup is not advisable. The motherboard’s VRM isn’t suitable for boosting a 6-core Phenom II, and the power supply is generally unreliable. If you decide to proceed, be prepared for the risks. CPU overclocking: Turn off BIOS features that seem tied to power management—they often interfere with overclocking on AM3. Adjust the multiplier and test stability using programs like Linpack or OCCT. Only continue if results remain steady. If instability persists and temperatures stay manageable (track with HWINFO64), raise core voltage and repeat step 4. If temps remain high, lower voltage and reduce the multiplier until stability returns. Conduct a thorough stability check on your GPU after each adjustment. Run a stress test on your GPU using tools like MSI Afterburner; start with a high core clock until instability appears, then tweak voltage carefully without exceeding power limits. Memory overclocking: Avoid this approach. It provides minimal gains on DDR3 systems and demands significant effort to achieve consistent performance. It’s only worthwhile for serious competitive overclocking where small improvements matter in key benchmarks.

The 1055T is secured with a locked multiplier, limiting its output. The 1090T offers an unlocked multiplier for higher gains.
