I'm testing a lot of GTA 5 Online. It has many customization options in settings, but I'm unsure what to pick. Confusing things include FXAA, MSAA, Reflection, MSAA, and anisotropic filtering. Is it better to have higher values? If I set everything to maximum, I get around 55 FPS, which is puzzling. My system has an i5 4590 and an R9 390.
Recommended settings include 4x MSAA, 16x anisotropic filtering, and high texture quality. Performance impact is minimal with these choices. Texture quality remains at the highest setting since achieving a playable frame rate above this is difficult on my GTX 770. Distance settings like Full should be enabled. If you have strong performance and ample VRAM, push all other parameters except resolution to their maximum.
When fully active I reach roughly 65 frames per second, but performance drops to around 35 when in a crouched position.
Is there an option to increase the scaling range? Your anti-aliasing level appears to be set at a moderate value. Consider reducing texture resolution for better performance.
I rejected several options but everything stayed consistent; it looks like something is off. My old setup (i3 + 970) maintained the same FPS.
Check the NVIDIA control panel, find the POWER option, and adjust it to maximum performance (note this isn't turned on by default).
Are you looking for an AMD alternative in AMD Catalyst? The motherboard setup isn't perfect. You might have preferred Z87 or H87 because they offer more PCI-E lanes (that's what I think). Also, I just noticed your resolution—being honest, it’s likely normal for a 390 and 2560x1080 display.
I sent back the monitor, but it didn’t work well—I used a standard 1080p resolution.
