I've set up a surround sound system on my PC using HDMI for connecting the receiver. The problem arises when I play any audio source—like YouTube videos, music, or game sounds—and after a pause of 1 to 60 seconds, it takes 3 to 5 seconds for audio to resume. Over a year this has become quite bothersome. After checking Device Manager, I discovered the issue occurs when my NVIDIA High Definition Audio device goes into the D3cold power state. This happens after it stops receiving signals once it’s already in D3hot, which starts when audio stops playing. The only problematic states are D3cold, D3hot, and D3d3. I’m using an AMD CPU with an ROG motherboard/BIOS, and I’m not sure how to fix this. Any suggestions on disabling or preventing the D3cold state via BIOS, drivers, registry changes, or something else?
