Hi guys, I'm really stumped with something here. So much so that it has prompted me to post for the first time!
I recently splashed out big and treated myself to a GTX 1080. After installing the drivers I restarted my system but it wouldn't boot. Tried again and I got a machine_check_exception error message from Windows.
After this I was able to boot it successfully, tried out a couple of games, everything seems fine. But any time I try to restart the system I have the same issue, the screen just stays completely blank.
I have had a stable OC on my i5-6500, but just for the sake of it I removed this and it solved the problem completely. My question is - why on earth would this be the case? I apologise if there's something terribly simple I'm missing, and I don't mean to waste anyone's time. I'm honestly just a slightly newbie and very confused PC owner right now.
My setup is;
AsRock z170M Pro4s
i5-6500
Palit GTX 1080 Jetstream
16gb Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2400mhz
750w Corsair PSU
Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It seems similar to PSU, could it be a CX model? Be sure to install the newest BIOS and motherboard drivers; there might be minor compatibility concerns with the GPU.
