Hello, I own a gaming laptop that ran a bloated version of Windows 10. While using that version on battery, it drew around 10,000 MW, giving me at least 7 hours of runtime under light use. However, I wasn’t confident about the custom bloated ISO because I didn’t trust its security—potential issues like keyloggers were a concern. So I switched back to a standard Windows 10 ISO (from Microsoft Store) and configured all my apps and settings, including undervolt via TS. But now the laptop is drawing about 40,000 MW, which drops battery life from 7 hours down to around 2 hours—a significant drop. I’ve turned off all unnecessary non-Microsoft services and startup items, but I still can’t bring the power consumption below 35,000 MW. Can someone assist me with this?
Avoids improved versions since my setup uses a gaming laptop; I assume downgrading Windows 10 could affect DX12 I rely on. Regarding Windows 10 LTSC versus standard, it's about the different release paths and features available.
LTSC offers most standard Windows 10 apps not included in the default install, and provides minimal telemetry data. It’s essentially what you need, though with Microsoft approval.
