The power cut came out suddenly and I don’t have a UPS. One PC takes an hour to boot into Windows, then another hour before it crashes. After a few days of this, I’m stuck on the boot screen with a repair message. It’s been this way for two days now, and I don’t want to reinstall Windows right now. Is there a way to fix it without wiping everything? I also tried safe mode but it didn’t help. Running Windows 10 on a WD Blue drive.

Consider purchasing an affordable 1TB/500GB SSD, save money for a higher-quality drive, and move your data later.

You might fix the disk using the command prompt, but it’s unclear how long that would last. I’d probably opt for a replacement drive.

Hi there! Let me share a similar experience I went through. A month ago, there was a power outage and several issues popped up: my Windows profile got corrupted, making login impossible; the Sony TV suffered a burnt power board; and my PC kept running disk repair operations. I tried many fixes, but the only option that worked was a full system reset—reforming everything. Now you might want to try a Windows repair using a Windows 10 boot drive, though that didn’t help in my case.

I never considered fixing it. I rushed to reformat and install.
