My personal Chrome book shows extensions active even when Chrome isn't running. I've already tried stopping and restarting, but they remain open. The Settings menu should have an option to keep background apps running after closing Chrome, yet it's missing. It might be because I'm using a Chromebook instead of the recommended device. This inconsistency between what I see online and my experience is confusing.
The extensions remain active since Chrome stays open, not just the browser itself. Chromebooks function as essential support for Chrome, making it the core system. Your browser might be Chrome, but all other tools operate within its environment. The task manager, terminal, and other utilities are also Chrome-based. As long as you're using a Chromebook, Chrome stays running continuously.
