Additional chip for the Gigabyte AORUS z390 Pro
Hello everyone, I'm just joining the discussions about choosing a motherboard. I'm considering the Gigabyte AORUS PRO, mainly because of its unique chip feature that others don't have. On top of that, I plan to use a Gigbyte AORUS 3080 TI Master, which makes me think a Gigabyte board might perform better than alternatives. Could anyone clarify what the chip in your image is for? Or explain how it affects my setup if I only have one GPU? I suspect it's related to SLI. The other choice I'm thinking of is an ASUS board. If you have any clear reasons why one option is better, please share your thoughts and let me know!
Whatever the situation, you won't face any penalties for using just one GPU on an SLI-enabled board. SLI is not recommended anymore. Very few programs support it. I think the component is likely a BIOS chip—no major concerns here.
Both options are excellent; Aorus Pro stands out as the premium choice. You won’t face any issues switching between brands. Pairing a motherboard with a GPU doesn’t affect performance, so feel free to experiment with various manufacturers.
You asked for a comparison between the two boards. The ASUS TUF Pro z390 is $15 less expensive. Your input would be valuable!
Yeah, I'm an Asus person too—it actually looks nicer. I don't like orange much, but it's about the same quality. Just make sure the board fits your needs and looks good to you.
You own a variety of Gigabyte products, with orange appearing mainly in certain designs. For instance, the Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming 5 features orange accents in its marketing images, though not everywhere. The same goes for your wife's Z390M Gaming, which has a red stripe on the black IO shield. In contrast, your B450 Aorus M shows only orange on one VRM heatsink.
