Firefox with ublock origin meets my needs completely. No advertisements anywhere I can see. I rely on Namecheap VPN when required. Browsing is mostly for occasional videos, so speed isn't a big issue.
Thank you for your ideas. I'll look into them later this weekend. My banking stopped working without a VPN, so I changed from Chrome to the Avast Secure Browser VPN.

Do you use split tunneling? Surfshark's split tunneling has never worked for many, including me. Tech support has left you confused. I signed up for a four-year plan and the 30-day refund was too late. Almost two years until I consider switching to Nord or something similar. Ublock works perfectly as it is.
I'm not entirely clear on what you're referring to. My current browser is Avast Secure Browser, which has its own blocking system. However, after it was recently updated, all the adblockers I had installed ended up being blocked by the new setup, including Avast itself. I also had Ublock installed, which was blocked too. Now I'm looking for another browser that functions similarly to what Avast used before, even with adblockers. It seems Avast appears to prefer its own tools and doesn't allow other software to be used alongside them. I'm in the process of finding a suitable replacement.
It seems Avast Secure Browser isn't included in Ghostery's approved list. I attempted to install it, but Avast flagged it as malicious.
I'm discussing a VPN. Using it allows you to avoid certain trusted websites or sites you rely on, which you can't live without when enabled.
