Running windows off a HDD, got an SSD that i'm wanting to install linux on, and keep windows for the time being in a dual boot system. Would like guidance and how to do this properly, or if it'll just work when i install { probably fedora } OBS seems to work easy enough, but I had trouble on another install, because i had to run it via command line, and couldn't get it into a desktop shortcut or into my apps menu. I also use Equilizer APO for noise cancelling and suppression for my mic on windows, and would like guidance for how to achieve the same thing on linux. probably have more questions, but these are the main concerns i can remember atm

You can use alternative platforms like Qt or Electron to port the application, allowing it to run on Linux systems.

You can use a Linux distribution that supports GPU monitoring tools like OpenHardwareMonitor. Alternatively, you might need to run it via Wine or another compatibility layer if native support isn't available.

It doesn't work with Wine. I doubt any hardware monitoring or tweaking tool functions in emulation. I really wish I had HWInfo64 and FanControl, but nothing close exists on Linux!

Apparently OBS and other programs vary in quality based on the source they come from. Repositories, direct vendor downloads, flatpacks, snap packages differ. Some perform better than others. Unlike Windows where you get from the original maker, a random person could have built a flatpack. Use the official RPM from the manufacturer instead. Keep trying until it works. Even Linux enthusiasts admit OBS has problems. Check the "Linux cast" podcast for more details—they use Linux tools and discuss issues. Sound generally causes trouble in Linux. I don’t know what your noise-canceling gear is, but verify with the maker.

For GPU management use LACT. For an overlay select MangoHud.

Consider setting the SSD to MBR or GPT during installation. If you skip initialization, the installer might not handle it properly.

Linux manages Linux, and W11 works with W11 partitions. Each installer will set up according to its format. You can purchase a brand new SSD, and the installer will take care of it.

I don't know if it works with wine yet. I can give it a try, though I'm not very familiar with it right now.

Let the technician handle it. However, typically you prefer GPT, just like in contemporary Windows versions.
