I checked earlier and couldn’t locate an option for purchase. I’m also worried about driver availability for Linux kernel 5. I’ll investigate further and see if a used version is possible.

I totally missed that it was PCI instead of PCIe, I couldn't work with such an old device—it's going to be extremely slow.

The T42 supports at least SSE2, which is a plus. You could install a Pentium M 780 because it’s one of the updated models with PAE, allowing Windows 10 to run smoothly. However, since all the revised chips are 533MHz and the T42 operates them at 400MHz, performance will be limited. The lack of SSE3 means it won’t be very efficient for most tasks. Your computer’s speed really depends on what you need. If you don’t expect much more performance then you did in 2004, it should match a modern laptop. I tried my T23 recently and it easily browsed the web. Only extremely heavy JavaScript-heavy sites slowed it down.

For most jobs it can be slow, but I also have a server ready to handle the heavy work. I only need basic networking.
