Hi there, I recently installed two hard drives and adjusted my fans. While connecting them, I mistakenly connected one of the 3-pin headers to the 4-pin RGB header. Initially, I didn’t notice anything unusual. After booting up, I detected a faint buzzing sound from the motherboard, but the fan wasn’t spinning. Upon checking, I realized the connection was incorrect. After reinserting it into the proper 4-pin header, the fan started working again. Now, I occasionally hear a very light buzzing noise from the board, sometimes once an hour or after about 30 minutes. I’m unsure if this is due to damaging the RGB connector. Anyone have any advice or insights on this? Thanks!
The situation seems unlikely to affect the fan's power and ground connections, which are both connected to a 12V source. It’s possible the issue isn’t a malfunction but something minor like coil whine or a recent concern about damage. You might only have noticed it after investigating further.
