Hello Community, I’m working for a small company that manufactures industrial PCs with strong hardware. We’re planning to run Windows IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 as our operating system. I downloaded the Evaluation ISO from Microsoft, and the desktop shows watermarks like “Windows 10... Evaluation” and “License not activated.” This matches my expectations. My main concern is whether I can activate Windows IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 using a valid license key now. Is the Evaluation version a separate environment that might cause activation issues, or can I simply proceed with activating Windows from the Evaluation installation? Also, do I need to install another Windows version to make the update work? Thank you for your help!

You can utilize a third-party solution to strip identifiers and make the setup complete. It will still be a full installation with additional evaluation steps. With an actual license, you can access the Microsoft portal to obtain the official ISO and install it directly. If you bought the licenses, they likely came with an email containing setup instructions. Use your account to navigate to managed resources and initiate the installation from there.

First of all, Thanks for the reply! The thing is, i want to create a "Master-Image" to load onto the next multiple IPCs therefore using an activated license would be possible but when copying/recovering the image to a new machine there is the chance that a colleague thinks windows is activated on the next machine where the master image is installed but in reality it is the license of another system. To avoid this mistake i wanted to use the Evaluation .iso so that you instantly see you have to activate the new system with a new license key! And that you are in the "naked" Master-Image You say it has "stuff on top" do these additional Evaluation things "disappear" when activating the IoT Enterprise with a valid license key?

Are you relying on office licensing or something similar? Intune should not cause any problems.

We obtain the license keys via a certified Microsoft partner sticker, excluding hardware and office packages. We also avoid using Intune. In reality, the IPCs operate mainly within a "machine-network" environment without external contact, as we don’t require a Microsoft account or store any consumer software. We opted for the IoT Enterprise LTSC OS version instead of the Evaluation edition. If my understanding is correct, the essential steps are: 1. Start the machine with Windows IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 Evaluation installed, 2. Activate it using a valid license key for the full version. Now I have Windows IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 without any remaining evaluation components!
