Reinstalling Windows on that storage device should restore your access key.

Since around 2014 laptops include the product key built into the BIOS. This key works only for the specific version it was released with—use "home" if you need that edition, "pro" for the professional one. Even if it comes with a lower version, it should still activate properly, including models shipped with 7.
