After installing Windows 10 Pro 64-bit from Microsoft via USB, I followed the activation process using the key from an eBay seller. The system accepted it and started up, but I noticed a watermark warning me to activate Windows. When I tried to access Windows Activation, it reported that my key wasn’t valid. I’m unsure how to resolve this issue.

You can reach out to Microsoft for assistance—they are very supportive.

I needed to contact them multiple times after setting up Windows on a fresh drive in the identical machine. After the initial setup succeeded, the next attempt required a human operator and then a loop back through the automated process.

When contacting Microsoft, they typically fix the problem unless the key is fake. On eBay, sellers often give replacement keys at no cost even if one fails.

The issue is fake, I was curious about the cost you paid. ^ Yes, but getting a genuine key from Microsoft or other sellers would be better. I didn’t face any problems with methods I can’t describe; it’s easy to check if the price seems fake by looking at the key’s value. You should ask the buyer to issue a refund if they claim the key is invalid and request a screenshot for your reference. You’ll get your money back, though you might not have clear proof—just in case the seller or eBay asks. In my experience, most sellers will refund you and ask you leave positive feedback, but don’t expect it. Also, report the seller to eBay; I discovered that many sellers who list "key" for other software have been banned, even though the key functions properly. For most programs, selling keys is illegal.

Typically the price is around 5-12€, and most of them are genuine non-EOM. One pair didn’t work, so I requested a replacement which arrived right away.
