It seems the adjustment was made to an overclocking profile rather than XMP. The document doesn't reference any changes to memory configurations.

XMP should adjust only rem settings like frequency, timing, and a few voltages. It seems to be an MSI BIOS update. You might have accidentally triggered the creator genie. It functions like an auto OC for the CPU.
