Activate TPM feature on Gigabyte B650m DSH motherboard
My setup in the signature and BIOS appears to have TPM and secure boot activated. However, in W11 security settings Core isolation seems disabled and TPM isn’t available. I checked the BIOS options and attempted adjustments, but there are manual configurations for TPM that I’m unsure about—they sometimes seem like resetting settings. It looks like secure boot is functioning properly according to Windows Security. How can I enable TPM on my specific board? I came across this information, but it seems to be marked as enabled. My BIOS settings read: I didn’t know how to capture screenshots, so I used my camera. There’s an AMD CPU with FTPM and a SPI TPM option. Security Device Support is enabled, there are no pending operations, and the TPM clear option is available (though I’m cautious about clearing it without understanding its purpose). Block Sid is turned off (I’m not sure what that means), and Secure Boot is set to standard mode.
Try TPM Clear first—it worked for me too. It fixed the Core Isolation issue on my Gigabyte board. Make sure CSM is turned off as well.
The Core Isolation or 'Local Security Protection' alert stems from an outdated Windows Defender update released by Microsoft several months ago. All three Windows 11 devices in our household display this warning, even when enabled. A registry solution exists if you need it urgently; otherwise, wait for a patch from MSFT to resolve the issue. I’m keeping it simple—making changes via registry could disrupt future updates.
CSM in BIOS was turned off. Before making any changes, should I clear TPM in BIOS or Windows according to this guide? The "Security processor troubleshooting" option isn’t visible, possibly due to a recent W11 update. If I change it in BIOS, should I set "Pending operation" to Clear TPM as shown in the screenshots? I attempted that but nothing happened. It seems saving and rebooting would be necessary. I wasn’t sure about this step. Which keys would be affected? I don’t use BitLocker or the MS account. Will this affect Windows registration? It feels like an MS-related issue. Is there a way to confirm it works and is active? If yes, I’d follow your advice and wait for the patch, but I need confidence TPM is running properly. Thanks for understanding—I’m trying to do this right.
That's accurate, the Local Security Protection problem stems from a Windows update issue and isn't connected to TPM at all. TPM must be turned on in the BIOS if it hasn't been already. Secure Boot is also necessary for your PC to run Windows 11 normally (though there are workarounds for certain limitations).
