Hi, earlier today I was attempting to swap coolers on my Ryzen 7 2700X. Previously, I used the original cooler. When I removed it from the motherboard (an ASRock B450 Pro 4), it stuck to the CPU and wouldn’t budge. After some effort, I managed to free it, but noticed the CPU was removed from its socket and the retaining arm had broken. Once separated, I reinserted the CPU and attached the retention arm holder again. After installing the new cooler and reconnecting everything, pressing the power button didn’t work—no fans turned on. I’m unsure if I need a new motherboard, CPU, or something else. Could you help?

After confirming the basic components are working, such as the power supply and CPU pins, you should remove the CPU and attempt to start the PC. The motherboard should still power on without the CPU. Proceed from there.

Could a faulty connection, loose wiring, or a dead outlet be responsible for the failure? It might also stem from an issue with the power strip itself or the PC's power supply.
