I'm certain the right answer is no, though I'm sharing this just to hear opinions. I'm posting it because I want to see what others think about these basic specs: 5950x Rog Crosshair v8, Wi-Fi Hero (not Dark Hero, please), PCIe 1 - Strix 4090 "gaming" with a G9 and an HDMI/USB balun for my Sony X85K and receiver in the living room; PCIe 2 - XFX Merc (believe it); plus ASUS and MSI options. They should all match since the bezels look identical. The details are on the MSI side, where I can set 2650x1440@165Hz when using a 1080 monitor. On PCIe 3 - Quadro 4000 RTX, it handles transcoding/remuxing smoothly, supports four 16Gb/16 at 3600MHz, and has DOCP on with 64 total Windows 10 Pro windows. Everything works fine on the latest BIOS/firmware/drivers—chipset included. Moving forward, I plan to install the 4090 on PCIe 3, use a NVMe PCI card on PCIe 2 since it supports bitrate, and keep PCIe 1 for the 6700X. I’m considering disabling PCIe 3 and 2 to free up lanes if needed, but that seems unlikely. Still, it’s worth asking. Happy Pi Day everyone! Thanks!

Review the system details, verify availability of these features. Many ASUS models support this. If missing, chances of significant changes are low.

The options will be 8x/x4/x4, x4/x4/x4/x4, or x8/x8. No boards can split into x1 or x2 to decide lane placement.
