Hello everyone, I’ve been using a 14900K since launch. It’s always been water cooled and kept up to date with the latest BIOS. Recently, I started experiencing game crashes due to DirectX faults. I restarted the system, but it still doesn’t POST half the time now—even though no configuration changes were made. When it does start, I notice the CPU speed appears very high, possibly over 7GHz. I haven’t enabled any overclocking settings, and the Intel Optimized Settings are set to Performance. My motherboard is a Gigabyte Aorus Master Z790. Is it possible the CPU began failing?

Consider checking the Raptor Lake warranty returns. Many of these chips are defective from the start.
