It’s unclear whether your Windows 8.1 Retail disc can be shared with another PC, especially one you’re building for someone else. You might need to contact Microsoft support for clarification.

Really? That means he’d need a fresh license, right? Ugh, thanks everyone. I guess I could attempt to install Bamboozle Windows myself, but I’ll just let him handle it.

You might try finding a free way to access the disk. There could be alternative methods to obtain a license without paying. Angus is facing a challenging situation, and you’ve already contributed a little to help cover his $800 PC cost.

They're all against the law. I'm afraid I can't provide any suggestions. You'd need a license or use Linux. However! You might be able to move a Windows license from an older device to a new one by contacting Microsoft. Just ensure you have the appropriate disk or ISO for that version of Windows.

He seems to be using a Windows 7 system. Would that still function? I could even file a complaint with Microsoft about my license key not working—just kidding! ;D (Laughs) Thanks everyone, I really value your assistance! Once I reach a roadblock with Google, you're the most friendly and supportive community online.
