The 3800XT handles voltages above 1.4V well, and Prime95 shows it running at about 1.325V. It seems the XTs might get a bit higher for their frequency range. Don't worry much about it. I've tested it on two motherboards—MSI and Asrock.

Well unless you're using an oscilloscope, that's about it. Onboard sensors usually aren't known for high precision. Certain chips or boards show die voltage, but you need to configure it properly and your monitoring tool must also capture that signal—not another one. Also, unless you've turned off all boost options on the CPU, it could still exceed your BIOS settings.

That's what I'm trying to understand. With the intel, those small differences in BIOS were around .015-.02 volts, not .25-.3 volts.
