You're trying to reinstall Windows on your Acer Aspire E1-531-4836 after a successful BIOS setup. The system is currently loading CentOS, but you want to get back to Windows 8, 8.1, or the Technical Preview CDs. Here are some suggestions:

- Check if the Windows installation media (ISO) is correctly inserted and recognized.
- Ensure the USB drive used for installation has enough space and is formatted properly.
- If using a bootable USB, verify the boot order so Windows 8/Technical Preview appears first.
- Consider using a different USB port or cable to rule out hardware issues.
- If you have a backup of the OS images, you might try booting from that instead.

Let me know if you need help with any of these steps!

usb connection functions properly initially, but after a few hours it fails to power on and displays a black screen. It didn’t respond when using a CD. I disabled Secure Boot and still encountered issues.

Check if legacy boot is active. If yes, switch to UEFI first.

Functioned on both UEFI and older systems, but displayed the Windows logo and a spiky element before going dark.

The issue was caused by a non-functional hard drive stopping the computer from starting.
